The 12th hole at Yas Links Golf Club

Middle East’s only links rated in world’s Top-25

Yas Links, The Middle East’s only links golf course, has been ranked in the top 25 golf courses in the world by influential American magazine, Golf Digest.

A panel of golf industry and media experts rated the two-year-old course 24th best in the world, making it the best new golf course outside the U.S.A.

Dayne Lim, from Abu Dhabi’s Tourism & Culture Authority, said:

“This testimonial from one of golf’s most influential publications highlights Abu Dhabi’s growing presence on the sport’s global stage.

The experts that make up Golf Digest’s prestigious judging panel are among the most respected people in the game, adding significant gravitas to Abu Dhabi’s golf and leisure proposition.”

Kyle’s love for Links
Yas Links was designed by Kyle Phillips, the architect who gave the golfing world Kingsbarns on the Fife Coast in Scotland– a course consistently rated among the best new golf courses in the world by golf media course rankings polls.

Abu Dhabi has grabbed its fair share of the golfing headlines recently despite a far greater number of golf developments being built in Dubai.

Year of success for Abu Dhabi golf
This is the third golfing accolade Abu Dhabi has won in the past six months.

In March, the emirate was named ‘Newcomer Destination Of The Year’ by Germany’s Golf Journal while the International Association of Golf Tour Operators earlier voted it ‘’Destination Of The Year Middle East & Africa 2012.

Compelling golf break offer
Yas Links and the emirate’s other two championship golf courses – Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club – combine for a compelling golf break offer.

“Much like he did with Kingsbarns 10 years ago, Kyle Phillips has created a golf course from scratch that feels and plays like a completely natural site he just happened to stumble upon,” said Robbie Greenfield, Editor of Golf Digest Middle East.

“Not least of his achievements is that Yas Links has somehow managed to capture the mysteries and nuances of a classic links course in a desert environment.

In an emirate famed for the high standard of its golf, Yas stands apart as a course featuring a stunning sequence of back nine holes, which demand course management and creativity in equal measure.”

Tourism authorities in Abu Dhabi recently launched a one-stop-shop initiative to showcase the golf offer to a domestic and international audience.

The scheme includes special promotional packages and a diversity of playing options, including night golf – with the option to play at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club under floodlights.
